There’s a reason why the Black Iron Burger team, composed of General Manager Victor Ortega and Chefs Jaime Guardiola, Pedro Ruiz-Ocejo and Luis Carlos Perez, has earned Zagat’s coveted 2017 Award for New York City’s #1 Best Burger Joint.

Applying their Spanish-Mediterranean techniques to the classic American burger, the squad known for using natural, hormone-free ingredients continues to impress with its delicious and creative burgers at all three of their Manhattan locations.

The original Black Iron Burger restaurant was founded in 2008 in the East Village, and in 2013 current ownership came in and revamped the menu. They switched to higher quality, hormone-free meat and came in with a mission to create a great experience for the sophisticated yet health-conscious foodies.

Natives of Seville, Spain, the Chefs all received their formal training at the Hotel and Restaurant Culinary School Taberna del Alabardero in Seville.

Reviewing the different burger options on Black Iron’s menu. Popular staples include The Black Iron Burger and The Masterpiece, the latter coming with a fried egg on top. Other delicious options include the Mushroom Truffle Burger and the Little Italy Burger.

In addition to providing high-quality and extremely tasty burgers, the biggest standout was how the food wasn’t too heavy. It was delicious and filling, but not too much.

Burger 1: The Mushroom Truffle Burger 🍔🍔 – A 4-ounce all natural beef patty, Mushroom Duxelles, Swiss Cheese, Bacon Bits, Sliced Truffle, Caramelized Onions and Truffle Mayo. With loaded fries 🍟in the background.

Burger 2: The Little Italy Burger – All natural beef, Gorgonzola cheese, Applewood crispy bacon, Julianne Lettuce and Secret Coleslaw.

The infamous loaded fries. With Cheddar cheese, Scallions, Bacon Bits and Ranch Dressing. The fries were very good. Not too greasy and the right amount of toppings and seasoning.

Onion rings with homemade ranch dressing

We give Black Iron Burger top marks. Delicious food, a cozy atmosphere, an attentive staff and uniquely differentiated burgers with a Spanish-Mediterranean influence. Well done Black Iron, we’ll be back!
